PM meets foreign envoys, seeks more aid for reconstruction



KP OLiJanuary 14. The KP Sharma Oli government has appealed the international community to provide assistance for its ‘mega reconstruction campaign’ conceived to rebuild infrastructure that got damaged in April 25 and May 12, 2015 mega quakes.

Prime Minister Oli invited representatives of diplomatic missions in Nepal to his official residence in Baluwatar and asked for their assistance for the campaign that begins from January 16.
Oli informed that the campaign will kick off from Ranipokhari and Bungmati. He said the government will supply essentials to quake-affected districts and start the reconstruction of physical infrastructure.
He thanked those, who participated and pledged aid at the international donors’ conference that the government had organised.
The government needs more assistance from the international community, he said. Oli expressed hope that the country will get more aid.
Oli informed that the reconstruction has suffered due to the shortage of petroleum products resulting from a movement that forces dissatisfied with the new constitution have been spearheading. He said reconstruction work will gain pace now, as talks with the dissenting parties are heading towards a solution.
The meeting had representation of all diplomatoc missions based in Nepal.
